The Kennel Murder Case vs. The Narrow Margin

Pre-code mystery vs. film noir, and both are stellar examples of their genres. The Kennel Murder Case is sort of a precursor to the Thin Man series, with William Powell playing detective Philo Vance. It's not nearly as witty or charming as The Thin Man, but it's still a lot of fun to watch. The Narrow Margin is a b-level noir, and one of the best of them. Absolutely one that should be better known than it is, making great use of its train location in a story of cat and mouse with plenty of feints and double-crosses. I gotta give the edge to The Narrow Margin here, by...a narrow margin.
