Le bonheur is one of the most visually invigorating movies I've ever seen. It also has this fresh quality to it, like a pristine meadow that smells like fabric softener. The story is pretty dark in a subtle sort of way, though, at least from my interpretation of it. Kick-Ass isn't at all like a pristine meadow, but it does have lots of brutal ass-whooping. The dark stuff isn't all that subtle, either. Maybe you could look at Le bonheur as a wolf in sheep's clothing sort of deal... but, then, is Kick-Ass a sheep in wolf's clothing? Some might say so. You know, I'm going with Le bonheur on this one. I like Kick-Ass quite a bit, but it's a mixed bag of awesomeness and lameness. Le bonheur sustains the same pleasing mood throughout, even when things start to seem sinister.
