Doctor Zhivago vs. Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Both are slow-moving with beautiful scores. I'll take "Zhivago," though. Every cast member is perfect, and each time I re-watch it, I find new things to appreciate.

I can't decide whether Zhivago is less than the sum of its parts or more -- I don't think it's as deep a film as it projects, but somehow the actors and the cinematography sell it. Still, as a fanboy who fights on behalf of TMP against all its haters, I'll vote for Trek.

Having finally read Pasternak's novel, I have a slightly smaller evaluation of DOCTOR ZHIVAGO than I once did, and I have a greater appreciation for STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE. TMP gets the nod this time.

Every time I watch it I love it more. Anyone who saw Zhivago on a large screen would understand my passion for this masterpiece. Star Trek wasn't even the best of the series. I'm more of a Star Wars fan myself.
