Nightcrawler vs. Se7en

se7en is an almost perfect criminal and has really good observations about awareness of society. Nightcrawler has good characterization but it has some logical fallacies and looking like a tv-movie.

Indeed, Se7en does not set out to be this sweeping indictment of society, and focuses on being a well-crafted thriller in a depraved world, but still ends up chancing upon harsh truths about our everyday existence. Nightcrawler clearly wants to critique the modern consumer, but doesn't quite achieve as much as Se7en -- neither as a thriller nor as social commentary. Having said that, nothing but respect for Jake Gyllenhaal's turn as Lou Bloom, who would probably be a model citizen in Se7en's rainy city.
