Philip K Dick up against his surrogate child, and while watching 2049 I got the feeling that what I'm witnessing on the screen could easily have been written by the great man, if he were alive. Both A Scanner Darkly and Blade Runner 2049 are melancholy tales of humanity lost in a sinister time of dystopian corporations. Lots of good stuff in both but the consequences of 2049's reality seem more horrifying to me.
