Civil War is even more of an instant classic than Aliens was when it was released.

Why is this a match-up worthy of comments? Civil War was standard Marvel trash with a totally nonsensical plot and awful villain. Aliens one of the greatest action films ever made featuring the greatest villains in cinema history.
You can't base how good a movie is by the other movies in its franchise. If you have to watch 15 other movies to appreciate it properly than its an incomplete film, and only a piece of a puzzle. Aliens does rely a small amount on the viewer to see alien, but if you haven't seen the original you can still enjoy the movie. Civil war demands that "if you're going to enjoy this movie at all, you must see every single one of our previous films to relate to any of these characters".
