Rise of Skywalker looked fine, had some pleasant beats, but was largely a mess. Shoehorning Carrie Fisher footage in may not have been the worst idea .... but the execution was terrible, took me out of the movie and had me rolling my eyes at what a shitty a job they did. Worse ideas included: an undeserved redemption arc; a cringe-y kiss; the fake-out "killing" of Chewie; everything involving Palpatine ... I hope Rian Johnson still gets to make a trilogy.
