Le trou vs. The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner

Some people go to extremes to escape prison. Others get let out on long distance runs on their own as long as they promise to come back... Le trou is one of those brilliant French films that spend ages in the silent industry of the plan. In most cases it's a heist. Here it's an escape. Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner is a social commentary on how we treat (angry) young men and how we expect them to respond to that treatment. Marginally I'm picking Loneliness over Le trou.
