Le samouraï vs. High and Low

While I prefer the ending of Le Samourai, I was more impressed with the police work in High and Low. I was put off by the witnesses in Samourai not having any protection and having to point out the person they were accusing right in front of them. I didn't know if it was something that was done in real life or if was something for the movie but it was hard to get past either way. I guess I'm just so accustom to the cliche of people behind mirrored glass that I can't accept any other reality. Which is probably more a fault of mine than the movie but whatever.
