Sabrina vs. The Apartment

Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn has to be one of the most mismatched on-screen couples in cinema history. Sabrina would have been so much better had Bogart's character been played by somebody younger and more energetic, and I say that as a huge Bogart fan. The pairing of Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine is much more natural and believable, hence The Apartment itself feels more natural and believable (and just plain better) than Sabrina.

I don't mind the Bogart/Hepburn pairing and I think that Sabrina is overall, a very good film. That being said, The Apartment is easily the better one from Wilder.

I enjoy Sabrina greatly for what it is. Nothing too memorable outside of Hepburn. Bogart, at his declining age and lack of charisma pulls the film down and the relationship between him and Hepburn is therefore, much weaker than the one between William Holden and Audrey Hepburn. All that said, The Apartment is beautiful and hilarious and easily wins.

Sabrina is good and also a classic but The Apartment is somewhat better.

The Apartment tops Sabrina...but I enjoy both.
