Tough decision, Love both of these movies, and even though I can't justify it, I'm going with the apes.

In it's time, Planet of the Apes was great. It was so different. You could really imagine a terrifying world, in which apes ruled. On the other hand, although Shawshank was a fine movie, I found it too disturbing to watch and enjoy. It is too sombre and messes with the mind too much. So I would choose Planet of the Apes :)

I guess I'll be the first one to go with Shawshank Redemption. It's kind of weird because while I enjoyed Planet of the Apes, it's not really the kind of film I want to see over and over whereas I can watch Shawshank over and over and not get tired of it.
