Crazy Jimmy Stewart > Crazy Jack Nicholson...oh wait, that's just regular Jack Nicholson isn't it? The crazy isn't necessary. Anyways, both great films from great directors, but I prefer Vertigo.

Good match-up. Both masterpieces, but I'm going with The Shining.

I'm not crazy about Vertigo. The Shining, however, is in my Top 10.

Both are great, but Shining is my pick.

I don't dislike The Shining, but Vertigo really impressed me when I watched it. I put it on expecting some background noise to fall asleep to and wound up finding it an engrossing watch. I'll give it the nod here.
Two of the best films of all time by two great directors. My nod goes to The Shining but I love them both.

Vertigo is good but its not a masterpiece, The Shining is. The Shining wins without a doubt.
