Love them both, but I think I prefer the dramatic version of the story a little bit more. Fail-Safe it is.

They were released the same year and both tell pretty much the same story. Kubrick was a genius to make it a comedy though and his film easily wins this. Fail-Safe is pretty goo too.

Movies with near identical plots that were released the same year, difference being that Strangelove is a dark comedy and Fail-Safe is just dark. Strangelove is obviously the better movie, but Fail-Safe needs some much deserved love.
