Masters of tension and crafting. I think that The Killing cemented Kubrick as my all-time favourite director, because it's so goddamn entertaining and intense. Its screenplay is also awesome and it's the first time we got to see the real Kubrick showing. Assault on Precinct 13 is also a masterpiece of tension and very engaging, but overall The Killing just seemed more... complete, I don't know.
