This is a tough, tough comparison between two children undergoing tough experiences in very difference settings. I love Pan's Labyrinth, especially the marriage between the fantastics and the grimly real. The 400 Blows doesn't require blood and death to paint a picture of alienation. Just two self-absorbed parents and a cruel school. It's so real, I'm picking The 400 Blows. Sorry Pan, I hate to do it to you.

I also have to go with The 400 Blows here. I find the film so much easier to connect with.

The 400 Blows wins quite easily here.

Two brilliant movies. I'll take Pan's Labyrinth for now, both both left me shocked from an emotional perspective.
