TINTO BRASS: CINEMATIC LORD OF THE BOOTY VS. RUSS MEYER: CINEMATIC LORD OF THE BOSOM. Up! has to be the most puzzling Russ Meyer movie. Probably because of the opening scene with that Adolf Hitler lookalike involved in the S&M, and the guy in the Pilgrim outfit... and the drunken lumberjack. Trasgredire (or Cheeky!) is, in my opinion, the best film Tinto Brass has ever made (though I haven't sat through Caligula, yet). It is not as cerebral and complex as Up!, but instead is a straightforward erotic film about a girl who is happily willing to take her clothes off at a moment's notice. For uncomplicated Va Va Voom!-style entertainment, Trasgredire is unbeatable. Up! is more for those who prefer everything but the kitchen sink lunacy in their naughty flicks. If Trasgredire was up against Meyer's Supervixens, this would be tougher. I gotta go with the Ukranian wonder woman Yuliya Mayarchuk on this one.
