Platoon is a personal favourite war film. Event Horizon is a semi-decent if derivative horror movie which despite its design and genuinely creepy/horrific moments still suffers from a number of weak spots, namely dodgy pacing, dated effects (even for the time), and some unnecessarily idiotic script and directorial choices. Platoon wins.

Visually speaking, Event Horizon is too far outdated of a movie for me. Platoon didn't do anything for me either. Sort of a dumb popcorn flick.

Platoon is the "better" movie, but Event Horizon was more memorable for me...
