Even the best Indy cannot beat LotR...
The best Indy can, in fact, beat the weakest LOTR, even though, collectively, LOTR is my all-time favorite movie. Last Crusade even edges out Return of the King for me.
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers was fantastic and I hate to vote against Indy here.

both great sequels but LOTR takes it out.

The Two Towers. Both amazing installments into their respective franchises, these are both rock solid film. However, The Two Towers balances out its elements better. Emotional storytelling with amazing action sequences.
