Rent vs. Cats and Dogs

I constantly forget that Cats and Dogs exists even though I must've watched it half a dozen times while babysitting in college. It's cheeky, fun and harmless. For as much hype as Rent received as a Broadway musical, it epitomized so many of the things that I loathe about the modern musical. There was no way it could live up to the hype for me and for a modern stage-to-screen adaptation, I judged it harshly against its contemporaries, often describing it as 525,600 minutes of my life that I can *never* have back. Gimme the doggies and kitties.
