although Boogie nights is very entertaining, and is well made and performed, it borrows too heavily from Scorsese's Goodfellas. PTA has slowly refined his filmmaking and quickly become a unique and important voice in american cinema. he no longer imitates his influences (scorsese, altman). There Will be Blood and The Master are films of breathtaking originality and ambition. anyone who says that PTA's best film is Boogie Nights really doesn't appreciate the transformation he has made from wunderkind imitator to auteur.

Boogie Nights takes this PTA showdown.
