Rope vs. The Skeleton Twins

Both stories dealing with inherently unlikable subjects. However, as The Skeleton Twins dazzled me both with strong performances and very smart writing that saw Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader's characters essentially switching places from start to finish of the film while creating ever so slightly more likable not great people as leads. Rope was ambitious in its creation and impossibly well-executed in its performance and production, but the lack of relatability to its leads makes it fall just a bit short.
