Ruby Sparks vs. Little Miss Sunshine

This is such a tough call. While Ruby Sparks has the deeply touching emotions that Little Miss Sunshine somewhat lacks, the laughs in Little Miss Sunshine are stronger and longer than those in Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris's new film. It's a tough call, but I think Little Miss Sunshine is going to take it by a small margin.

Both movies are made REALLY well, and do what they're supposed to, but Ruby Sparks had more emotion and unexpected twists AND funny moments. Little Miss Sunshine had those things, but wasn't as powerful as Ruby Sparks. Ruby Sparks wins this round.

I need to see LMS again, but it wins for now with me. These are both really good.

Little Miss Sunshine>Ruby Sparks

There were a lot of good things about Little Miss Sunshine, but the ending really sticks out in my mind, in a very bad way. Ruby Sparks sticks the ending, and also goes a long way toward incinerating the Manic Pixie Dream Girl trope.
