This Week’s Top New Movie Trailers
Drive (9-16-2011) *Red Band Trailer*
DIRECTOR: Nicolas Winding Refn
CAST: Ryan Gosling, Bryan Cranston, Carey Mulligan, Albert Brooks, Christina Hendricks
FLICKCHART FUTURE: Wow. This just shot up to the top of my most anticipated movie of the year list. Nicolas Winding Refn’s Valhalla Rising may be my favorite movie of the past two years and this looks like it has his hands all over it in the best way possible. It’s been a while since we had a great action film with a touch of art and class to it.
Dream House (9-30-2011)

DIRECTOR: Jim Sheridan
CAST: Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts
FLICKCHART FUTURE: Looks like it could be pretty good but the trailer gives way too much away. There has to be a better way to handle the twist in the promotion of the film than to just put it out there right off the bat. I’d say its top comparable at this point is the recent The Amityville Horror remake.
The Amazing Spider-Man (7-3-2012)

DIRECTOR: Marc Webb
CAST: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen
FLICKCHART FUTURE: Andrew Garfield sure has come a long way with his American accent since his 2007 Doctor Who appearance. This is an extremely effective trailer in my opinion. It gives very little of consequence away while giving us a glimpse of how the top actors fill out their rolls. Hopefully we’re not all burned out by superheros this time next year.
The Dark Knight Rises (7-20-2012)

DIRECTOR: Christopher Nolan
CAST: Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway
FLICKCHART FUTURE: Aside from a few shots of Tom Hardy as Bane, there’s not much to get excited about here aside from, you know, the best movie of all-time (according to Flickchart users) getting a sequel from the same creative team and with a bunch of great new actors involved.
The Last Circus (8-19-2011)

DIRECTOR: Álex de la Iglesia
FLICKCHART FUTURE: This one has been kicking around festivals for around a year now (winning 53% of Flickchart battles so far) but finally gets a proper, albeit limited, US release. The movie itself looks completely insane (check out the red band trailer here for more boobs and blood). I’m definitely feeling it but I can see how this may not be everybody’s cup of tea.
Paranormal Activity 3 (10-21-2011)
