Just watched the teaser trailer you posted for Skyfall and I’m definitely in. Nice to see room made in a box set for an upcoming movie. Usually you get the boxset and then they release a new version of it the following year with the other film added, causing much sadness.

Not too keen on the Bond game posted here, but Jandy and I just received Goldeneye: Reloaded for xbox and are probably going to give that one a try when we can tear ourselves away from Minecraft. :)

  2. Jon, I confess I’m a little less thrilled about them leaving open a spot for Skyfall in the “Bond 50” box set after I finally saw a photo of the inside of the box.

They’ve designed it as two hardback books with pages containing two discs apiece. That basically means they expect you to buy Skyfall on Blu-ray and then take it out of its package to insert into the book slot, leaving you with the release package lying around. There’s really no practical advantage to it.

What’s more, each disc is clearly labeled “BOND 50.” Unless they offer some kind of mail-away deal for owners of the box set to acquire a special “Bond 50”-consistent Skyfall disc, then they’re effectively asking you to take your Skyfall disc out of its actual package to slide into this box set, where it won’t even match the other discs.

Still, it’s possible they have a plan to address all this somehow. The most obvious method would be a mail-away special “Bond 50” edition Skyfall disc.

Of course, these are all ultimately minor concerns. The box set will feature the Blu-ray debut of nine catalog Bond titles, among them On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, The Spy Who Loved Me and GoldenEye. That’s pretty exciting!
