Despite being such a box office bomb, MacGruber got ranked more than most movies before they hit DVD. Of all the movies with a 28-day wait on Netflix, this one is hurting me the most.

One of the finest science fiction movies ever made. Loosely based on William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, the film introduces us to Robby the Robot, by far film’s greatest robotic character. It stars Walter Pidgeon and a young Leslie Nielsen.
The Player (Blu-ray)
How would you rank it amongst the best movies about Hollywood of all time?
Flickchart Ranking: #1012 Times Ranked: 19388 Win Percentage: 40% How Many Top-20’s: 24 Users |
Legendary director Robert Altman’s best movie not named Popeye or Secret Honor. Tim Robbins plays a Hollywood executive trying to keep his job with a young hot-shot biting at his heels. And he killed a dude, so that’s troubling him too. There are tons of nice in-jokes about the industry, more awesome cameos than any movie I can think of and Jack Lemmon playing the piano. Movies don’t get much better than this.
Mars Attacks! (Blu-ray)
How would you rank it amongst the best science fiction comedies of all time?
Flickchart Ranking: #336 Times Ranked: 177691 Win Percentage: 28% How Many Top-20’s: 1266 Users |
Director Tim Burton’s last movie before he decided to flip the switch for auto-pilot. Don’t get me wrong, Tim Burton on auto-pilot is still pretty good. He’s just capable of so much more than making the same movie for all the young white girls who like Twilight over and over again, like he does now.
THX 1138 (Blu-ray)
How would you rank it amongst the best science fiction action movies of all time?
Flickchart Ranking: #1635 Times Ranked: 10696 Win Percentage: 36% How Many Top-20’s: 12 Users |
An excellent look at a dystopian future from director George Lucas while he was still hungry. Starring Robert Duvall and Donald Pleasence

A musical starring The Who. Elton John, Ann-Margret and Oliver Reed are in it too.

I just watched this Saturday night for the first time in a while and absolutely loved it. There is nobody on Earth better at playing a tortured character than Mel Gibson. I never noticed how short we was though until watching this movie. At the end, 5’8″ Rene Russo stands next to him and is taller. I understand actors have to be short to create better screen symmetry with female co-stars, it’s just harder to take them seriously as bad-asses. If MGM can get around to putting the original movie from 1956 it’s based on out on DVD, I will be a very happy man.
