This cop movie has a very good cast: Wesley Snipes (!), Don Cheadle, Richard Gere, Ethan Hawke. Definitely looks like it’s worth the time it takes to watch.

Roger Ebert got behind this movie something fierce. David Fincher is apparently on board to remake it for everybody too lazy/ignorant to enjoy a movie in a different language.

This movie is just pure fun. The special effects (especially the famous skeleton fight scene) by Ray Harryhausen are great, as always.

One of Buster Keaton’s most famous films. It’s not his best but it’s still great, and the stunt where the house falls on him is still amazing 80+ years later.
Lost Keaton: Sixteen Comedy Shorts (1934-37) – (DVD)
16 films from the “talkie” era where Buster tried to get his groove back. There are some gems in here but nothing as well known as his silent classics. I absolutely refuse to believe Buster Keaton could make a bad film, so I’ll definitely be picking this up when the price inevitably drops in the future.
Columbia Pictures Film Noir Classics, Vol. 2 – (DVD)
Film Noir (French word but American through and through) is right up there with jazz as the greatest contributions to art the US has ever made. This set includes:
–Human Desire by Fritz Lang
–The Brothers Rico with Richard Conte
–Nightfall with Aldo Ray
–City of Fear with Vince Edwards
–Pushover with Fred MacMurray and my dream woman, Kim Novak
Chicago (1927) – (DVD)
The original film version of the hit play. It’s a silent film (as you may be able to tell by the date) but the story wasn’t adapted into a musical until the 70′s, so that doesn’t really matter anyways. Cecil B DeMille directed the film but took his name off it, because he didn’t want to be associated with a movie so secular and cynical when he was making so much money with his religious stuff. The DVD includes a fully restored version of the flick that was long thought lost.

Gigli on instant!? Might have to finally watch it to see if it is as bad as everyone says.
Oh, it’s as bad as everyone says it is. But hearing Jennifer Lopez say “gobble gobble” when talking about her lady parts is so bizarre it almost makes the movie watchable in a demented sort of way.
