  1. Agreed on the Kill Bill 2 scene. I’ve never been so uncomfortable as I was when the screen went dark and I could hear the dirt being shoveled on top of me thanks to the great sound system the theater had. I was totally immersed in that scene and it’s perhaps one of the strongest scenes in the two films for me. It will probably be THE BEST scene when they “eventually” combine the two parts into The Whole Bloody Affair.

Is that actually happening? I know a co-worker of mine has been waiting for that forever…

For me I hate everything about The Curious Case of Benjamin Button except the scene where Cate Blanchett’s Daisy breaks her leg. the way that scene is written, to highlight that the event was the result of a series of unrelaed events, is brilliant IMHO.

Boondock Saints … I was let down hard by it. However, the “there was a firefight” scene was excellent.

The only one of these movies that I liked enough to comment on is There Will Be Blood. I’ve watched it at least five times now, and I randomly quote it on a regular basis. The scene where Plainview is converted at the church is absolutely hilarious, and he’s an entertaining character in general. It’s one of the few movies that I feel compelled to finish once I start watching it, from the beginning you so admire right up to the end. Perhaps the final scenes are the only part of the movie I don’t totally find satisfying, but otherwise I love the movie.

There Will Be Blood is another one of those movies that I wonder if I wouldn’t like more if I watched it again. But not nearly as much as No Country for Old Men, from the same year. The ending of No Country pissed me off, but before that, I absolutely loved the first three quarters. It had been on its way to becoming one of my all-time favorites.

Yeah, I know lots of people like the whole “I drink your milkshake” and everything, but after my one viewing of There Will Be Blood, the opening is the only thing that really stuck with me.
