Tom Hiddleston is in early talks to headline a remake of The Crow for Relativity Media. The Avengers villain would play Eric Draven, a man who returns from the grave to avenge his own death, who was portrayed by Brandon Lee in the original film. Tom Cruise and Armie Hammer will star in an adaptation of the classic TV series The Man From U.N.C.L.E. for Warner Bros. Guy Ritchie is set to direct the film about a pair of agents working for the United Network Command for Law Enforcement. Warner Bros. has been trying to get the film made for a while; at one point, George Clooney was due to star with Steven Soderbergh directing, until Clooney had to drop out of the project. Cruise is currently reigning at the box office with Oblivion, while Hammer will be seen next opposite Johnny Depp as The Lone Ranger. [Deadline]
Emma Stone is in talks to head up Woody Allen‘s next film. Though details are just about non-existent so far about the film’s story, it should be shooting in the South of France soon, where Allen shot Midnight in Paris. Allen’s most recently-completed film is Blue Jasmine, starring Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin, and due for release in July. Stone has a lot of work lined up; she’s currently filming The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and has Alejandro González Iñárritu‘s Birdman, Guillermo del Toro‘s Crimson Peak and an as-yet-untitled Cameron Crowe film waiting in the wings. Jim Caviezel, Michael Chiklis and Laura Dern will star in When the Game Stands Tall for Mandalay Pictures. The football drama centers on De La Salle High School football coach Bob Ladouceur (Caviezel) and his assistant coach, Terry Eidson (Chiklis), who took their team on a 151-game winning streak from 1992-2003, a record for consecutive victories in any American sport. Rosario Dawson, most recently seen in Danny Boyle‘s Trance, is in talks to star alongside Chris Rock in a new, as-yet-untitled “edgy, showbiz-themed comedy with romance”. Rock has written and will direct the film himself, which will begin shooting in New York in June. [Deadline]
Robert De Niro and Shia LaBeouf are in talks to play a father-son spy team in Spy’s Kid (no, not Spy Kids) for Paramount. Inspired by the true story of a traitorous spy who used his son to continue his work from behind bars, the film would reunite LaBeouf with his Disturbia and Eagle Eye director, D.J. Caruso.
