Following the announcement that Megan Fox will play the lead in the Michael Bay-produced TMNT reboot, Ninja Turtles, Paramount has found its four amphibious leads. They are primarily unknown actors (just as well, as the Turtles themselves will be motion-captured CGI creations), but it should give the actors more exposure, especially if Paramount manages to turn this into a franchise. Alan Ritchson is to play Raphael, Pete Ploszek will play Leonardo, and Jeremy Howard and Noel Fisher will play Donatello and Michelangelo, respectively. Ritchson has a high-profile role coming this year in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, while Fisher has previously worked with Ninja Turtles director Jonathan Liebesman in Battle: Los Angeles. Tom Hiddleston appears to have been added to the all-star cast of Disney’s upcoming Muppets sequel, The Muppets…Again, as a character named “The Great Escapo”. Though this has not been “officially” announced, it was spotted on Hiddleston’s official CV…before being removed. The plot thickens… [Bleeding Cool]
Kate Mara has joined the cast of Transcendence. Details on the film – the directorial debut of Christopher Nolan‘s longtime cinematographer, Wally Pfister – are still pretty hush-hush, but the plot focuses on a scientist who transplants his consciousness into a supercomputer of his own design. Mara joins a cast including Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany and Rebecca Hall. Currently starring alongside Kevin Spacey in the original Netflix series, House of Cards, Mara’s film credits include 127 Hours and Shooter. [Heat Vision]
Speaking of Nolan, he has reportedly offered the role of the lead character, “Cooper”, in his next film, Interstellar, to Matthew McConaughey. No word yet on whether McConaughey has accepted, but it would seem he’d be crazy not to. [Deadline]
Finally, director Marc Webb has tweeted a pic of The Office star B.J. Novak on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

Novak’s role is as yet unspecified, but he is among newcomers in the sequel that include Jamie Foxx as Electro, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn.
I raised an eyebrow when I first heard about the Matthew McConaughey news, but I’m now thinking it could be pretty awesome. Mr. Nolan knows what he’s doing. :)
I’m all for it. McConaughey’s done a lot of crap, but when he’s good, he’s really good. The right director can get something great out him.
