Oh, you're not a fan of A Christmas Story at all. May I ask you why?

I can't even say why, per se. I just hated everything about it. It was like being around extended family who makes you feel uncomfortable and you just want to leave their house but your parents are being polite and you hate them for a week for even dragging you along and not leaving sooner.

You have an awesome variety in your top ten Travis. I'm glad it features the best Transformers movie.

Ha! I'm sure there are plenty of Flickcharters more eclectic than me. I dig what I dig and I let Flickchart sort it out. :P

I'm sure there is, but take the compliment Travis. :) you've got a Bogie movie, in with Transformers, in with Oz, in with batman! Pretty awesome if you ask me.

Plus there's "Lawrence of Arabia", which I maintain is The Greatest Motion Picture of All Time.

I just realized that I've seen at least nine of my top ten in a theater. The only one I'm not entirely sure of is "Dumbo", though I feel very strongly that I did see it as a child in a theater. Oddly enough, I've seen five of the ten in a theater for the first time just since last spring!

It is kinda neat. I'm grateful that there have been so many theaters screening older movies these days. In the Louisville area, we have one theater that shows cult faves/classics every other Saturday at midnight (weekly through summer and in October). We also have a local theater with an annual classic movie series, a city park that offers free screenings in the summer of classic movies and we have a Cinemark theater that participates in their classic series. That's four different summertime classic series, and I'm happy to get in on 'em!

That all sounds awesome, Travis. You're very lucky. I have to drive four hours to see a movie in the cinema, and none of them show older movies.

You wouldn't guess Louisville, KY would be all that happening a place for being into movies but it's been pretty kind to me - particularly in recent years!

I agree on Christmas Story, I don't dig it. Hey I see you comment a lot. I have a facebook group that discusses film, but I need more people interested in discussion.

I would like you to check it out if you're on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/emporiumofentertainment/

Just so you know, I'm active here as well, I'm not just spamming or anything.

I just now saw your comment and invitation. I'll check it out, but I'm not sure how much time I'll be able to commit to anything on a regular basis.

Thanks. My Flickchart is in a constant state of flux, so that mishmash is subject to change on any given day!

I don't know that I'd say I "love" it, but I did enjoy it. I'm still processing it, and I actually plan on writing a more considered piece about it soon, but here's what I wrote when I saw it last month:

Hey man, I'm conducting somewhat of a survey with what I perceive to be the diehard movie fans on this site.. How long has your #1 movie been your absolute favorite? And do you think it will ever change? How loyal and/or biased are you to that movie? Also, the same questions apply for your top 5 as well as your top 10. Are they pretty much edged in stone on your chart or have your top 5 and/or top 10 changed over the past few years?

"Batman" has been my #1 for several years now, and that is unlikely to ever change because of how personal a connection I have to that film. It was making myself stop to watch it one last time that kept me from committing suicide on the night of 5 October 2011, so you can honestly say that "Batman" literally saved my life.

Beyond that, my Flickchart is always in flux. I coined the term "Fluid Flickcharting", recognizing that different aspects of different films resonate with me at different times.

My Flickchart is purely a representation of how I felt about the most recent matches I drew; I pay little attention to where anything lands after I make a choice. I focus only on the match before me, and let the chart generate itself.

That's really, really dark man. Poetic justice that Batman came to your rescue when things had become so dark. I may not know you but I would still urge you to not go down that dark path again.

Awesome list, btw.
