"The original is so much more effective than its much lauded Technicolor remake. Not only is An Affair to Remember too long, but the chemistry between the two leads is just not the same as in Love Affair. I find Kerr particularly hard to believe as a nightclub singer, whereas Dunne brings just the right amount of lightness to the material, with a patina of sheer joy when she sings. A shame that she’s not better known today."
