"Endgame certainly has a larger range of characters and personality, as well as extremely satisfying conclusions for them. I have my issues with Endgame's plot, but surprisingly it's less formulaic than Scorsese's recycled "Italian/New York criminal who becomes powerful, but gets arrogant and causes his own destruction" blueprint at this point. The mobsters are just as "theme-parky" as superheroes. Outside of the great performances, the core characterization of GoodFellas is just selfish assholes with guns. Scorsese is great on a technical filmmaking level, but I get more enjoyment out of the decade-long character arcs."
