"Scream is not nearly so clever as it pretends to be, although it lacks the cloying self-referential nature of its innumerable sequels. Scary Movie is deliberately stupid, but it's stupid even beyond its deliberation. A few chuckles aren't worth 88 minutes of tedium. I very reluctantly pick Scream"
