Thanks for commenting dude. I must confess, some fantastic films are present on your list of shame. Don't worry, take that as a good thing. You have many great films to look forward to :]

GoodFellas, Fight Club and Se7en are excellent. Do give them a try. The Godfather II is a little long but very enjoyable. Raiders is great entertainment as well. I have heard great things about Casablanca and will definitely check it out.

Yeah, I know. They sort of messed up Bane's motivations toward the end. The Joker was unpredictable and without identifiable emotions throughout. Still a good film.

LOL! No prob. Fight Club is great. It's the kind of movie you either love or hate on first viewing. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hell yeah, that's what it's all about. Now, don't get me wrong. I love a lot of the classics. Kurosawa was a fucking master. Leone was brilliant. Hitchcock, too. But you put A Christmas Story and Citizen Kane in front of me, I'm choosing A Christmas Story. And I really, really like Citizen Kane. I like to think while I'm watching a movie. But I also enjoy watching Jackie Chan wreck fools. And it's not like the guy made bad movies. He was just fucking incredible within his chosen genre. And that's what it's all about, right? It's all about each movie kicking ass at whatever it's supposed to kick ass at. Make me laugh, cry, scream, think...I don't care, just entertain me.

Couldnt have said it better myself dude and there are many classics that i enjoy. Like Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, 12 Angry Men and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. But i would rather watch a fun entertaining movie instead of a historical masterpiece.

Well, I'm actually planning to watch it soon. As you can tell from my profile page, I have seen only a few movies from the pre-60s. I don't have a real reason why though...I better start watching some classics, like Casablanca. But dude...dude! You have never seen Raiders of the Lost Ark, yet you HAVE seen Last Crusade and Temple of Doom?! Dude, do yourself a favour and go watch Raiders as soon as possible. And if you HAVE seen it, but forgot to put it on your list, watch Se7en. I think you'd love it, I personally love it even more than Fight Club. I'll watch Casablanca, and you'll watch Raiders of the Lost Ark / Se7en...deal? :P

I really, really liked it! One of the most perfect movies I've ever seen. I have zero complaints about the movie. I also loved the little jokes in the movie, like
'I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!'
'Your winnings, sir.'
'Oh, thank you very much.'
That was very funny. I don't love Casablanca though, I guess it's not really my kind of movie. But if someone would ask me 'what are perfect movies?', I would definitely say Casablanca and There will be Blood. Like you, I think this made me appreciate classic movies. I'll definitely check some more out. Thanks for the recommendation!

I don't know why you can't add a profile picture. I just changed my picture with Firefox, and it works perfectly. Could you describe what you did?

When you upload the image, you might need to select it where it appears on the right hand side, and drag to select what you want shown.

In case you didn't see my reply on my profile. Just go to your profile by clicking on your own Screen Name. "Edit your profile" is located just underneath your flickchart summary on the left. I used firefox to upload mine. If you can't upload one it may be too large and you may have to shrink it. http://www.shrinkpictures.com/ <----- I use this simple site.

Your uploaded image should show up on the left and right sides of the screen. Check out the image on the right, and you should see a small black box in the upper corner. Drag that box over the part of the image that you want as your avatar. Then click the "Save image" button on the left side of the screen. That should work.

Nice, glad you liked it. It has my favorite ending of all time; so effective, so dark, so perfect compared with the rest of the movie. I love it, it's the best part of the movie.

Well, Raiders of the Lost Ark seems the most logical choice, but I'll also be glad if you watched
- The Big Lebowski;
- Memento;
- or Amadeus.
I suggest you pick one of those four, I highly recommend all of them.

I think I'll watch either The Good, The Bad and The Ugly or 12 Angry Men, I'm not sure yet. I'll let you know when I've seen one of them (or both, who knows ;) )

I think I'll never be satisfied with my top 20, at least not for now. My top 3 is the only thing I'm happy with, maybe my top 5 too. The rest keeps changing constantly.
And about Wizard of Oz: I saw parts of the movie when I was younger, but that's a REALLY long time ago, lol. I have seen Return to Oz though, my god is that a dark but awesome movie. Have you seen Return to Oz?

MysticSpoon on 8/31/2012 Reply  ·

Well, Return to Oz is not really a dark version of the Wizard of Oz...it's more like an unofficial, dark, depressing and even scary sequel to the Wizard of Oz, made 46 years after the original. If you are open to something that's different from the Wizard of Oz, so something that's not colorful, happy or cute, then definitely check it out. I highly recommend it...but I suggest you watch Raiders of the Lost Ark first, haha.

Ha. Seems like Street Fighter is bringing me some mild infamy. A shame that more people can't enjoy the film. Or at least they've been trained not to admit they enjoy it. =)

I really love your top 10! I really need to re-watch Lion King and I'm glad that movies like Casablanca are in your top 10! You should really, however, check out some of the movies on your list of shame, especially Reservoir Dogs if you like Tarantino!

Thanks for the reply :) Man, I've seen Lion King as a kid but I can no longer remember it so I decided not to add it to my Flick chart. Can't wait to re-visit it soon though! Man, I love how Casablanca is in your top 10! What a frickin masterpiece it is! Blew me away when I saw it

As far as I'm aware, Lion King and Toy Story are regarded the best animation movies...Casablanca did have an insane cast and what an amazing job done by Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart....Casablanca is just a masterpiece hands down!

You should really check out Rear Window and Reservoir Dogs...Most movies on your list of shame you need to check out....That's a good thing :)

Oh My god man! I finally re-watched the Lion King and HOLY CRAP!!!!! IT IS STILL AMAZING! It is currently placed in my top 20 and is what I believe the greatest animation. Amazing characters, such iconic songs "Hakuna Matata", amazing animation and beautifully told story! Also, the musical score is awesome! Amazing mindblowing movie, thanks for convincing me to re-watch the Lion King

Oh boy! ....I didn't cry neccessarily but boy....I really felt the loss of Mufasa. He was such a lovable character and one of my favorite scenes in the film was when he tells the bird (whose name I forgot) to take Nala home and says how his son needs to learn a lesson.

It perfectly illustrates the magic of the film and how he didn't lose his temper...It was such a beautiful scene that affected me deeply. I also loved the scene where Simba and his two friends (again, I forgot the names) and they're singing during the night and the montage shows Simba aging! I loved that, perfection is what I called it!

I truly thank you for convincing me to re-watch it.
