Jesse James and Malick in your top 10... fine taste.

Thank you for the compliment! Malick is my favorite director (as evidenced by the fact that half of my top ten are directed by him). And Jesse James is just a beautifully crafted film with one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard

For me, The Tree of Life has a certain mysterious beauty about it, something that draws me in each time. I could go on and on about the film, but what are your thoughts?

You are right, there is some sort of mysterious beauty about it.As far as cinematography goes,it's one of the best movie's I've ever seen, even though it was quite as beautiful as Day's of Heaven. But there are so many question's I have about the movie, what do you think is going on at the end?

I think, and I mean, I could be wrong since its open for interpretation, but I think the ending is the older Jack finally coming to terms with his life. Everyone he met in his life comes together. I think it takes place in his mind. He has all this resentment from his past, (his Father being abusive, the death of his younger brother etc.) and I think that it is at this point that he has finally let all that anguish go and is finally at peace. I could be wrong, but the more I watch The Tree of Life, the more this seems like what Malick was going for. What do you think?

That really make's sense, thank's for replying. At first I just thought that Jack was dead and he was in heaven or something, that's why he could see his brother. But if I'm not mistaken,it show's him in his office later,so that doesn't make sense. Also, what do you think the orange flickering light was at the beginning and end of the movie?

I am not totally sure what the flickering light means, but for me I think it represents the unknown, things we don't fully understand, or maybe a greater power, such as God. The flickering light also appears before the creation sequence, which would make sense if it represented God. I think it could mean several different things. What did you think it represented? Its one of those elements from the film that is really hard to place.

Haha, fair enough. Well, my gut tells me it represents the unknown, whether it be God or some higher power governing over life and everything that is known.

Anything in the top 10 that I haven't seen, I don't watch many action or sci-fi films which would account for the ones I haven't seen haha.
