I'm not the biggest horror fan but I want to check out the Shining someday. I saw a little bit of it a long time ago but I need to see it in its entirety. Psycho is another one I need to see as well as some of the other big Hitchcock films.

You've sure seen a lot of movies. Are you a film major or do you just have a love for movies?

Boy is that a Long Story!
I'll just say this. I had something going at one point, but it didn't work out. So now its just a typical movie watcher. What about you? I wish you luck if you are trying to persue anything. :)

That's too bad. Sorry it didn't work out for you. I'm just a typical movie watcher as well. Watching movies is what I like doing most in my free time.

Are there any movies you're looking forward to being released this year?

I'm looking forward to Gone Girl as well. I like Fincher and Affleck so I'm interested in seeing them work together.

I thought Donnie Darko was fantastic. I wasn't too sure about it before seeing it since I'm not always too crazy about films that are way out there or too weird but this film was great. I've already seen the theatrical cut twice and plan on seeing the director's cut at some point in the future. it's definitely one of my favorites of recently watched movies.

I just remember the corny sitcom version of Ferris Beuller. I m surprised that it's that high on the global ratings. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

Hey, I'm conducting somewhat of a survey with what I perceive to be the diehard movie fans on this site.. How long has your #1 movie been your absolute favorite? And do you think it will ever change? How loyal and/or biased are you to that movie? Also, the same questions apply for your top 5 as well as your top 10. Are they pretty much edged in stone on your chart or have your top 5 and/or top 10 changed over the past few years?

Cool, thanks for the tip. :) I plan on watching the whole top 1000 at some point, but I'll fast track The Vanishing, well, because you said. :) I'm on a road trip around Australia at the moment, but as soon as I get back, I'll watch it.

I love E.T by the way. I don't like people to see me cry, so I was always hiding my tears from my mum when I was younger watching this. :)

Unfortunately Angie, i've already seen the remake. I watched it about seven or eight years ago when I was unaware of any foreign language film. I didn't like it, and i'm sure the original is much better. I can't remember what happens, so it'll be like a new film.

Does any of your list of shame interest you?

This similar scenes in The Vanishing original and remake won't be remembered by me, the gap is too big between me seeing the two films. So, it's all good, Angie. :)

Thanks so much for the three recommendations. I have actually seen them, but I do appreciate your effort, pal. :)

What's your favourite out of Rec, Let the Right One In, and The Descent?

Have you seen the Rosario Dawson Descent film? I haven't. It sounded like it would be extremely violent.

I was thinking of buying Descent years ago, but the cover (her laying down, looking dead) put me off. It looked like a rape revenge film, which I'm not into at all (I hated I Spit on Your Grave. And Last House on the Left)! But to hear it's boring, surprises me!

We nearly rank them the same. I like The Descent the most.

What's your favourite, and least favourite genre, Angie?

Well, you have very good taste in war and westerns films, despite you not liking the genre. :)

Okay, I'll keep your favourite genres in mind if I come across a film you might like.

I have a few questions for you, Angie. :)

Would Joe and The Way, Way Back be coming-of-age films that you're interested in?

Also, can you share your thoughts on This Boy's Life? I really like the film, and what to hear your opinion after seeing it's position on your list. :)

It was actually Joe that was the last great film I saw. :) I guess our taste vary a bit. Oh well, that doesn't matter, eh? :)

I completely agree with you on The Perks of Being a Wallflower, though! That was a 5/5 film for me. So awesome.

Did you see Ezra Miller in We Need to Talk About Kevin? Man, he was great.

Well, for me, it's a 5/5 film. I don't know what your opinion would be, though. Still trying to learn. :) I don't know what to compare film to compare it to, sorry. I haven't seen many films like it before.

Thank you for your reply to my earlier question(s) about your favorite film and your top ten. I asked this question to various people because I've battled with replacing my #1 film for over a year now. I saw Casablanca for the first time in 1999 I think. It left a profound impression on me. It soon became my favorite film as I would routinely revisit it. So, for roughly 15 years, Casablanca has been my favorite film. I've had some really good times with it as well. I first saw it when I was in the military. I just relate to so much of the film. Oddly enough, I relate to both Victor Laszlo AND Rick Blaine!! Victor for the military lifestyle that requires you to be away from the love of your life, and Rick for the duality of choosing between someone you love and doing the right thing. So many themes strike all the right chords with me.

Fast-forward the time to 2013. I saw Vertigo for the first time ever. It blew me away more than any film I had ever seen. Everything about it was brilliant. And the more I watched it, I began to develop an obsession for it. I've never watched a film so many times in such a short span. I watched Vertigo more than ten times in a month. It just drew me in. I wanted to put it as my #1 film, but I didn't want to make a decision based on a knee-jerk reaction. So, I gave it time to see if my affinity for it would lessen. I even forced myself to stop watching it so much. Well, a few weeks ago, I showed it to some friends and family. I discovered that my affection for this film hadn't changed a bit. So now comes the hard part. I almost feel like I'm cheating on Casablanca if I put Vertigo #1. To answer my own question, I'm very loyal to my favorite film of all time. But I think the time has come for me to be true to my chart and put Vertigo at #1.

I've seen Casablanca recently and I still love it as much as I did when I first watched it. But I think I enjoy Vertigo from start to finish a little more than I love Casablanca from start to finish.

I know I'm probably taking this way too serious, but watching movies is one of my favorite pass times. What do you think? Have you ever had this dilemma?

I'm glad you enjoyed We Need to Talk About Kevin. Creepy, eh? How was The Equalizer? I'm not sure about renting it. I might watch The Skeleton Twins instead.

I've been enjoying Aussie films lately. The Babadook, Predestination (althouh a bit wacky) and The Infinite Man have been enjoyable to me. I also enjoyed Klute, the Jane Fonda movie from the 70's. I'm a huge fan of 70's crime flicks Angie, so it worked perfectly for me.

I actually saw Tin Man back in like 2007 when it originally aired on television. I really like Zooey as well (500) Days of Summer is among some of my favorite movies. She's pretty talented. Do you listen to her band She & Him at all?

Speaking of music related stuff, what did you think of Whiplash? I really enjoyed it.
