Probably the worst attempt at a sequel I've ever seen. It's just a heartless rip-off of T2. If you're looking at a good example of how Hollywood seems to be milking old franchises, this is it.
Arnold's comeback to the Terminator role is purely for entertainment value and has zero development as a character. Laugh at his one-liners, just remember that a lot of them are illogically done.
Nick Stahl's performance as John Connor would've had some potential had the character acted more like a brave, intense warrior. This John Connor is not the John Connor we saw in T2. Arnold's got the wrong guy.
A love interest is unnecessary. Claire Danes's role as Connor's future wife Kate Brewster is merely there for the screams and subtle male-female romantic tension. Not only is the character unnecessary, the character also complicates issues within continuity. The T2 portrayal of future war John Connor never walked alongside a female companion.
And the writing. My God. It felt like writers John Brancato and Michael Ferris just scribbled a simple drawing of Arnold, Stahl, and Danes over the T2 script, changed the ending, and picked up their paychecks. The amount of bad decisions done with this pathetic excuse for a sequel is overwhelming. But hey, it could've been worse. Everybody look up the first draft for Terminator 3 by Tedi Sarafian. Desperate Hollywood producers, people.
