Leone puts on a clinic on how to tell a moderately interesting, 90-minute story by way of a 165-minute slog. Staring at Cardinale is the only enjoyable distraction, and even her overdone portrait shots get tiresome. An overrated film in an overrated genre.

Yeah, this film is way longer than it needed to be. A good western, but not a great one.

Watched it for the first time, it didn't quite live up to the hype, but I'm glad I saw it. Lovely score. Although, it would have been nice to have at least one more track included in the movie. I found myself wishing that just a little more things could have happened between the characters. Like, all their story's were half-told, then ended. Although, I really loved the flashback sequence in the ending, that was my favorite scene by far.

One of the most perfect films ever made. Everything from Leone's direction, Morricone's score, the stunning cinematography, the script, all the way down to the performances by Bronson, Cardinale, Robards, Fonda, and Ferzetti are flawless. The pinnacle of all Westerns.

Exactly, I couldn't agree more. Every scene starting from that awesome opening is just legendary and is enhanced by Morricone's remarkable score.

Far as I'm concerned, this is the second best western of all time behind GBU. Such an epic story told in grandiose fashion. The dialogue was great. The cinematography was wonderful. And that score... my goodness.
