"Two take-no-prisoners, gritty, violent war movies separated by 56 years. Both won Best Picture. Both have their flaws. Platoon gets a little sidetracked into an internecine pissing contest, whereas All Quiet is at times melodramatic. But I'll give it to All Quiet based on personal preference."
