I enjoyed this movie for the most part. A bit over the top at times, but i suppose that was meant as a metaphor for the sensationalized news industry. This is a solid flick but doesn't come close to recapturing the greatness of Billy Wilder's other films such as Sunset Blvd. or Stalag 17. Kirk Douglas was amazing as one truly evil newspaper man. He was so amazing I hated to see his character go through a change of heart. I loved how every bit of honesty in his soul was crumbling just like that mountain.

It doesn't get the acclaim or attention that a Sunset Boulevard or a Some Like It Hot gets, but Ace in the Hole is every bit as good as those other Billy Wilder classics.
