Smiley vs The head of KGB - Karla, payback time for the turmoil of Tinker, Tailor. George is a spy in a hurry which contradicts all he taught to the new boys. Smiley gets the scent of a trail left by the death of an old Baltic General. Does Smiley crack the code, the big secret which will be the down fall of the 'Sandman' aka Karla? Once again, this is brain food, not only does it add to "Tinker, Tailor.." but we get to see Smiley in the field using all he knows, digging up old contacts. Clever, detailed, subtle, a master class in story writing. If you want a challenge not just a quick fix of entertainment then consider Tinker,Tailor.. and then Smiley's People.
