"When i said that Mononoke's message wasn't ham-fisted, I meant in comparison to Western cinematic efforts on the same topic like Avatar and Fern Gully. I wouldn't describe Spirited Away's "surreal whimsy" as being ham-fisted, because to be brutally honest, I don't find it charming or whimsical in the slightest."
