How did Bob Hoskins go from a vengeful murderous gangster to Roger Rabbit? I don't know, but I do know that he is a great performer, and gives a hauntingly convincing performance as a spitfire gangster who likes having every situation under his control. It takes a while before the story really gets into gear, and that's one of the few faults of the film. It was ten minutes in before I knew that I was watching a gangster flick. But the incredible ending and the syntonic soundtrack make up for any imperfections. A good movie that barely falls short of great.

8/10

Bob Hoskins is hands down the best, most believable gangster I have ever seen in a movie. Yes, better than Brando, De Niro, Pacino, and the rest of them (only Joe Pesci comes close imho).
