A strange surreal macabre masterpiece of early cinema and bizarre films!

Nope. It's just bizarre. I recognise that the point of this movie was to be as bizarre as possible but at least have something underlining to it. Yes, the eye cutting shot is iconic. But what does it mean? What's the purpose? I've heard defenders of this saying "well, why did the movie make you feel this way? Maybe that's the point". Sorry but WHAT? If I made a movie that was just weird shots loosely tied together, I will be laughed at and not allowed to make a film ever again!
