I happened to quite enjoy this movie. It's a shame that people are going to compare John Carter to Avatar and Star Wars and blast it for being unoriginal, when it is merely an adaptation of a 95-year-old story that those other movies have raped and pillaged for their plots.

This movie is a victim of bad timing. (Being released before Avatar, at least, would have been a point in its favor.) I liked it anyway.

A very entertaining movie. It flopped because of two reasons.

1. It was released at a bad time. Big budget, Sci-Fi action movies usually come out in the summer. Not in the middle of March.

2. No stars. Disney threw way too much money in for this movie when it practicually had no recognizable actors. There was only really two actors in it that people might recognize and that was Willem DaFoe (who was CGI) and Mark Strong.

Does anyone know that John Carter is actually a story written in the 1800's? It lost money in the boxoffice because people have seen this story before, however John Carter is is own original story

Really liked the book but it's a disappointing adaptation. Poor casting and relies too much on CGI as opposed to telling a good story.
