Despite starting possibly the most famous horror franchise, this movie is largely underrated as everyone just remembers the sequels or “it aged very poorly”. The characters feel so fresh and fun to watch (with pretty decent acting!); which only makes it more scary and tense when they’re in danger. The score is absolutely classic, causing chills and giving off a big pressure, only showing up when the killer is ‘on screen’, and of course the classic “ki ki ki ma ma ma”. Not to forget the excellent pacing, able to build up tension while not dragging itself in the dirt. And the way the movie is shot is great, everything is looks so peaceful, but always making you check the background just in case, and having decently iconic frames. And the ending is just fantastic and thrilling, but I won’t go into why as you should see it yourself. The more I think about this movie I love it, it’s just a true classic that 100% holds up and a must-watch for any horror fan. 9.7/10 (Yes, I really think it’s THAT good.)
