Howard Hawks returned to westerns inspired by 1950s TV westerns... and it shows. Rio Bravo feels like a TV show.
Maybe the greatest Western ever made. Wonderful on every level.
I love how Howard Hawks was able to balance intense shutouts with great character development and humor. Plus Rio Bravo has one of the best sets in my books.
Damn good Western with a great cast and a whole lot of fun.
