As a two-hour epilogue episode of Breaking Bad, it's very satisfying and well executed; Aaron Paul steps comfortably back into his most iconic role to offer determined closure to the rage and trauma that has defined Jesse Pinkman's character. As the above opening line would imply however, as a standalone film however, it doesn't quite hold up; the pacing and structure is better suited to a long TV episode than a film (though given that this is more like a TV-film on Netflix than an actual feature-length film, I guess that makes sense) and aside from some more cinematic cinematography it doesn't stand out visually from its predecessor (which was already innovating in that area for TV). That being said, I'm glad that I saw it and for fans of Vince Gilligan's Albuquerque-verse it should satisfy. I joined the hype train several years after the fact; I only finished Breaking Bad about three months ago and had only just caught up with Better Call Saul when the trailer for El Camino dropped. Coming off the back of those, it works nicely as a complimentary package. Just don't expect it to exceed Breaking Bad in quality or scope; that was never going to happen.

Nothing more than a little something special for us fans of the greatest television series of all time. I'd say it was just the closure we needed.
