Star Wars is now a clusterfuk of franchise thanks to "The Force Is Female" nonsense. Disney and JJ crapped the bed yet again.

An erratic continuation that slowly turns into a bloated, laughable mess by the end.

Overall JJ did a good job of handling the impossible task of closing off a 42-year-old saga. Not crazy about Palpatine's role, but besides that, I didn't find anything blatantly wrong with it. The lightsaber fights were masterfully done as well. 7/10

Not great but a good closing of the greatest saga ever. Some great fight scenes and fun to see some old characters return.

8/10 because this is a MOVIE, and I’m not looking for Star Wars to make me feel 8 again and fill the happiness I never received as a child/teen.

Honestly this movie is complete garbage! Story and logic no longer makes sense, the fan service is clearly pandering, the Emperor's role is awful. No satisfying character arcs (particularly with Rey, Kylo and Finn) and no heart. It makes the rest of the trilogy feel like there was no plan all along. Everything from the acting to special effects felt rushed, as if everyone wanted this project to be completed as quickly as possible. In the end, there's not a lot about this movie I liked.

The story ends and the disappointment is officially complete. As I watched this mess draw to a close one word kept filling my head…NONSENSICAL. Nearly everything that hit the screen was complete nonsense. From bad plot turns to shallow character arcs, “that makes no sense” was often my reaction.

It's because there was no overall plan from the beginning. I liked The Force Awakens an awful lot. I didn't like some things that The Last Jedi did, but this one really does veer heavily into course-correction, which hurts because it's also trying to wrap things up. I actually really liked the final moments, that little denoument at the end, but it's messy getting there. Between this and Star Trek Into Darkness it seems that J.J. can reboot a franchise, but he can't necessarily sequel his own work.

Granted, here, he's sequalling a work by somebody else that he apparently didn't like...

The Rise of Palpatine is so bad. made a big fat liar out of Lucus by pissing all over Luke, Han and all the originals.

I grew up with Star Wars 1-6, so this is probably the most painful thing I’ve ever had to take.

Personally disagree; Palpatine coming back completely undermines the first two trilogies, and there are so many stupid inconsistencies and plot contrivances like the dagger or the Wayfinder or the fact that Palpatine just somehow had an underground army. Moreover, Rey continues being a Mary Sue and defeats Palpatine in 10 seconds, and she's still bland as ever, along with every other character. Some scenes also try to copy those of Endgame (cavalry arrives and I... am... Iron Man/all the Jedi) yet they fail so massively because of no good development. Didn't hate this as much as The Last Jedi, but to those who liked the other two trilogies, this isn't worth a watch.

The Worst Sequel SW. The Force Awakens was great when it came out but the more I rewatch the more I really see how it's a pretty basic film. The Last Jedi gets better on rewatch but it has some truly terrible momments as well as some really, really good momments. It works better as a space film than a Star Wars film. The Rise of Skywalker... I mean, I did find it entertaining the first time, but the plot is a mess, the characters are undeveloped and get no resolution to their arcs, Snoke is a clone, Finn gets another girlfriend, Palpatine comes back and ruins Return of the Jedi, Chewbacca and Babu Frik are actually really good, Poe's okay, Rey is a Skywalker, Kylo Ren gets one really good scene and then the End

As someone that liked TFA and LOVED TLJ, this movie was disappointing on so many levels. The movie itself was bad in terms of pacing and story. But the worst part about it all was that it basically rendered the whole sequel trilogy pointless.

The story is messy, there’s enough plot to fill two movies, and some of its characters need more attention. But this is still very much a Star Wars film and will evoke many of those same old feelings of kid-like joy and excitement for those who allow it.

This movie is a dumpster fire film, but it isn't the worst thing ever. The cinematography for one is really interesting. Abrams' insistance for longer takes is quite fascinating and allows his actors to actually fill the frame and act without much hindrance. A shame that he was working with a messy and crappy script
