I already find French New Wave to be self-absorbed, pompous trash, but this one takes it to a new level with Truffaut trying to get the audience to sympathize with all the pain and anguish that goes with being a director. And all the silly, experimental non-sequitur still shots… feels like a film school project, not a “classic”. Certainly not a top-550 film.
